Wales 'Walking' footballers defeat England

By Alun Huish

Wales' o75s Walking Football Squad defeat England 1-0!

Congratulations to Wales' o75s Walking Football Squad who defeated England in the world’s first walking football international match for over 75s.

Wales won the match by a goal to nil at Merthyr Town FCs' Penydarren Park earlier today, with a 25 yard screamer from Terry Bishop, Jeff Dudley claiming the assist. Barry Town Vets legend, Frank Lennon (pictured) could have made the game safe but fluffed his lines when it was easier to score!!

Everyone at Wales Veterans' Football is confident that our o70s Representative team can emulate the 'Walking Footballers' achievement on 21st April at Briton Ferry...when it is hoped that players from the winning walking football squad will step up to the 'running' version and claim the trophy against their English counterparts.
