'New Look' Wales o40s defeated by RAF

Wales Veteran's Football welcomed their old friends and rivals RAF Veteran's to Ocean Park Arena in Cardiff and suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat.

With 11 players unavailable due to work & injury, manager Laurence Owen gave 8 players their debuts in the o40s match-day squad, but in the worse possible start the visitors were awarded a penalty after just 7 minutes when Steve Bassett was adjudged to have handled the ball...they were 2-0 down on 11 minutes and 3-0 down after 24 minutes as the new players tried to adjust to the demands of Representative football. The final nail of the first half saw a clearance by keeper Ian Davies rebound off the RAF the strikers chest and into the net.

With a formation change at half time and a strong Half time team talk with the message of let's win the second half the hosts certainly upped their game and we’re a totally different team in the second half. They hit the woodwork twice through Mark Dunne and Kris James and with better finishing could have had 3 or 4 more goals. Llanelli striker Steve Davies scored a consolation with a super strike to make it 4-1.
