Wales o60s beat Gloucesterhire!

By Alun Huish

Wales o60s 3, Gloucestershire Vets 2.

Wales Veterans' Football welcomed a Gloucester Veterans' League side to Ocean Park Arena for the last fixture before the Welsh Squad travel to Leicester for the o60s Home Nations Tournament writes, manager, Jon Parkinson....

"A competitive game was played in good spirits, despite the numerous injuries sustained on both sides. Wales played some good football in patches and on another day could have doubled the 3 goals they scored, but some lapses in concentration and formation allowed Gloucestershire off to a good start with a well taken goal, against the run of play. Thankfully those lapses were not as costly as they could have been due to a MOM performance from Goalkeeper Howard Sully. Wales equalised when Jeff White headed home a Price cross and Bobbett put Wales 2-1 going into the break, after good work by Huish.

In the first minute of the second half, a flowing moving enabled White to slam home a great Steve Thomas cross. Although the visitors converted a soft penalty late on, the hosts ran out worthy winners and look forward to the reverse fixture.
