The Wales Veterans' Football Association welcomed Wiltshire side, Coates Fc o35s, to Cardiff's Leckwith Campus and after an end to end game, Wales o40s deservedly took the spoils.....writes Laurence Owen....
The hosts were looking to continue their unbeaten 15 month run and manager, Laurence Owen, gave debuts to Penydarren's Paul Keddle and Gavin Williams along with Briton Ferry's Jamie Price and Ceirion Mason from Ferndale...and all stood out during the 90 minutes!
Goals from Llanelli's Lee Stone, Briton Ferry's Steve Davies and Keddle were enough to claim victory..but at least 6 very good chances were spurned in front of goal and debutant goalkeeper, Price, made three superb saves to foil the opposition, who were themselves on a 14 game unbeaten run!
Manager, Owen, commenting on his side's impressive record said "the strength in depth in this age-group is impressive and regular new recruits in both training and match-day squads and the work done off the field to get the best from them is testament to the quality within the Wales Veterans' Football Association."
Man of the Match Paul Keddle for a superb debut.
