All-square between Swansea and Newport but Swans stay top!

19th January
Barry Town 1, Cardiff Academicals 0
A narrow win for the hosts at a chilly Bro Morgannwg. Despite controlling matters for much of the game it took a wonder strike from Warman to secure the 3 points against a defiant Accies.

Merthyr Tydfil 1, Swansea A 1
All-square in really enjoyable game of Veterans football at Mountain Ash...writes Rob Seago....Although Grey scored for the visitors, their profligacy in front of goal cost them and Challenger made it 1-1 with minutes remaining.

Newport 3, Swansea 3
Honours even in great game of football at Llanwern School...writes Andy Jones....An evenly contested contest with two very good teams saw the hosts score through Tadman, Jones and Dyke, with Swansea’s goals coming from Fredrickson, Otway and Swansea supremo Andy Jones!

5th January
Barry Town 7, Merthyr Tydfil 0
An emphatic win for the hosts at Bro Morgannwg although they didn’t have it all their own way against their hard-working opponents. Although Barry dominated possession, a combination of stubborn defending, an inaccurate final pass and profligacy meant they only led 1-0 at the interval through a composed Cooksey finish.

Managers Francombe and Jones demanded greater quality and within minutes of the restart Cooksey notched his second and Averies struck a 25 yard screamer into the top corner. As the visitors began to tire the home team took full advantage with Hill, Rutherford, Murray and finally Orr getting on the scoresheet.

Swansea A 1, Penybont 5
The visitors took the 3 points with a fine team performance at Penyrheol...writes Peter Morgan...Lewis put the Swans ahead but goals from Braham and Howland gave the Bridgend outfit a 1-2 half time lead. In the second half, goals by Morgan and a brace from the ‘fully recovered’ Veasey sealed a solid victory against a competitive Swansea side.

Cardiff Academicals 0, Newport 4
A convincing win for the visitors at the University Fields with goals by Vaughan, Herrin, Ross and Jones

22nd December
Merthyr Tydfil 3, Penybont 2
Great credit to both teams who kept playing football until the end at a blustery Penydarren Park[i]...writes Chris Cleaver....[/i]Price put the hosts 1-0 up at the interval. Braham and Steer then put the visitors ahead, but Price and Challenger swung the game Merthyr’s way and they held on for a good victory.

Newport 2, Barry Town 2
A fair result in an entertaining game in tough conditions at the Newport Velodrome....writes Alun Huish....The game remained scoreless until Routley put the hosts ahead on 50 minutes and Mathews equalised 10 minutes later. Carpanini put Newport back into the lead but Averies ensured a share of the spoils with 5 minutes remaining.

Swansea (A) 0, Swansea 3
A comfortable win for the League leaders at Penyrheol Leisure Centre....writes Andy Jones.... After a tough battle in tough conditions, goals by Davidson, Clarke and Otway kept the Swans 3 points clear at the top.

Pontyclun 4, Cardiff Academicals 1
The usual good, friendly competitive game of football in blustery conditions at Leckwith campus...writes Robbie Ryan... A Mele hat-trick plus a goal from Hosey gave the hosts a comfortable 3 points. Miles scored for the Accies.

8th December
Cardiff Academicals 3, Swansea (A) 3
Accies got off to a fast start going 2-0 up as Miles pounced onto two Swansea errors at the back. The hosts continued to threaten but the Swans found themselves back in the game with a neat finish inside the box from Seago. Right on half time Accies increased their lead with a goal direct from a Welsh corner. Swansea settled in the second half and after struggling to get out of defence for the first 10 mins they finally established themselves in the game and two goals from Hope and Sicard earned them a battling draw.

Swansea 7, Penybont 1
A convincing win for the hosts at Penyrheol Leisure Centre which extends their lead at the top of the table with their main competitors matches postponed. A fabulous four by Lockett along with goals by Griffiths and Otway secured the 3 points. Steer grabbed a consolation for the visitors.

Swansea (A) 2, Barry Town 0
A great win for the hosts (pictured) at Penyrheol against their lacklustre opponents. The visitors boasted the lions share of possession but the Swans defence were defiant with Broome and Seago outstanding. Goals by Von Sicard and man of the match Seago, earned them the 3 points.

Cardiff Academicals 1, Penybont 1
All-square at the University Fields after a hard-fought encounter. Miles put the hosts ahead but Roberts equalised for Penybont (pictured) to earn a share of the spoils.

Swansea 12, Cardiff Academicals 0
A massive win for the hosts at Penyrheol moves them top of the o60s WorkwearSupermarket.com League on goal difference. On target were Lockett (3), Stephen (2), Williams (2), Fredrickson (2), Otway (2) and Myerscough.

Newport 3, Swansea (A) 1,
Three first half goals secured a win for the hosts at Llanwern School with Herrin, Griffiths and Vaughan on target. Seago grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.

Penybont 0, Barry Town 2
The visitors put in a ‘workmanlike’ performance to claim the win on a poor Penybont grass pitch. Barry controlled the majority of the game against their defiant hosts, but a fine goal by Cooksey followed by a super strike from Hill secured the 3 points.

Merthyr Tydfil 0, Newport 8
An emphatic win for the visitors at The Ynys, with a fabulous 4 by the in-form Carpanini. Further goals by Jones (2), Ross and Vaughan secured a valuable 3 points for Newport which keeps them in the hunt for honours.

Penybont 0, Swansea 2
A finely balanced game at the SDM stadium was finally decided with two goals in the last 10 minutes by Otway. The win keeps Swansea joint top of the o60s WorkwearSupermarket.com League with Pontyclun.

Pontyclun 0, Barry Town 1
This hard-fought win for the visitors against previously unbeaten Pontyclun at Ferndale School has blown the o60s League wide open! Bobbett finished off a tremendous team move on twenty minutes and although Pontyclun pushed forward for parity, Barry deserved the win, despite going down to 9 men towards the end with two players in the sin-bin.

Swansea A 1, Cardiff Academicals 0
A tight game at Penyrheol was decided in Swansea Athletic’s favour when Nicholas put through his own-goal! The 3 points moves the Swans into 5th.

13th October
Swansea A 0, Merthyr Tydfil 2
A welcome 3 points for Merthyr at Penyrheol with a Price brace sealing the win.

Cardiff Academicals 2, Barry Town 4
A fine hat-trick by Matthews and a header from Mark Jones secured the points for the visitors at Llanrumney. Moles, scored a 20 yard screamer for the Accies and Welsh, tapped home a rebound after his penalty was saved.

Pontyclun 3, Penybont 1
White, Mele and Fitzgibbon were on target against a defiant Penybont at Ivor Park, to secure another win for top of the table Pontyclun. The ageless Peter Morgan got a consolation for the visitors.

Swansea 2, Newport 1
A great home win for the Swans at Penyrheol with Williams and Pasquantonio on target. Vaughan replied for the visitors.

Swansea 1, Pontyclun 4
Pontyclun remain unbeaten following a massive win at Penyrheol. The visitors played the tough conditions the better and earned the 3 points after goals by White (2), Hosey and man-of-the-match, Fitzgibbon. Pascquentino was on target for the hosts.

Merthyr Tydfil 0, Barry Town 3
A good game, despite the blustery conditions at Aberdare’s Ynys Stadium, saw the visitors claim 3 points with goals by Huish, Bobbett and Rutherford.

Penybont 2, Swansea A 1
A good, competitive match on the grass at Bryntirion saw the hosts move the ball around nicely in difficult conditions resulting in a first half penalty tucked away neatly by Dick Steer. Chris Grey popped up with the equaliser after a goal bound effort from Julian Gillings. Penybont sealed the win with 10 minutes left with a well struck shot by Brian Whitmore from outside the box.

Swansea A) 0, Pontyclun 6
Big win for Pontyclun at Penyrheol with Mele (4) and White (2) doing the damage.

Swansea 3, Barry Town 1
A competitive match at Penyrheol saw the hosts win out with goals by Fredrickson (2) and Lockett. A Kowalski OG was scant consolation for the visitors.

Penybont 0, Newport 2
A Carpanini brace secured the points for the visitors at the SDM stadium.

Merthyr Tydfil 1, Cardiff Academicals 2
A close game at Penydarren Park saw goals by Cook and Langley enough to secure the points for the visitors. O’Sullivan was on target for the hosts.

1st September
Barry Town 2, Newport 2
A competitive match between two good sides at Bro Morgannwg saw the hosts take a 2-0 lead through Bobbett and a candidate for goal of the season, when Huish curled one in from outside the box. The visitors levelled the match through Steve Thomas and a superb Carpanini strike to ensure a share of the spoils.

Cardiff Academicals 2, Pontyclun 11
The visitors started the season with a bang at Llanrumney with both White and Mele bagging 5-a-piece. Taylor scored their other goal and Welsh was on target for the luckless hosts.

Penybont 3, Merthyr Tydfil 0

Swansea v Swansea (A)
Last season’s champions got off to a winning start at Penyrheol, but they were thwarted by a stout defensive performance by Swansea A until the last 6mins. Swansea Vets passing game finally paid dividends and a flowing move down the left side saw them go 1 up when Clarke beat 3 players before crossing to Medwin who calmly passed it into the net. Lockett bagged a last-minute breakaway goal as Swansea A went in search of the equaliser.
