Llanelli seal league title!

24th March
Ferndale & District 1, Llanelli Town 3
Congratulations to Llanelli Town who secured the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League title with a fine win over rivals Ferndale at Darran Park. White gave the hosts an early lead but the ‘Reds’ showed why have been the outstanding team this season with habitual scorers Bartley and ‘Willie’ Williams again on the scoresheet. Namesake Barrie Williams sealed the win with a late goal.

Pentyrch Rangers 2, Penybont 7
The visitors claimed the 3 points with an emphatic away win with goals by Andrew Davies (2), Steve Jones, Miller, Maggs and John. Pentyrch scored through Charles and McNamara.

17th March
Llanelli Town 1, Barry Town 0
In the ‘BIG’ match of the day at Penrhos School, a draw was on the cards until an 83rd minute penalty was coolly converted by habitual scorer Kev Bartley. The win by the hosts puts them in the box-seat for the League title, moving them to within 2 points of current leaders, Barry Town, with 2 games to play!

15th March
Pentyrch Rangers 0, Briton Ferry Llansawel 8
The second big away win in a week for the visitors at Mountain Ash. On target were Surman, Diiulio, Kennedy, Jermin and Phillips.

10th March
Cwmbran Celtics 0, Briton Ferry Llansawel 8
An emphatic win for the visitors at Celtic park with a fabulous four from Kennedy and further goals by Gareth Davies (2), Ablade and Jermin.

25th February
Penybont 0, Barry Town 7
An emphatic win for the visitors at Bridgend’s SDM Glass Stadium keeps them top of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League with one to play.....against main rivals Llanelli Town! ‘Ricky’ Richards put them ahead with a rare goal, Hutchins and Scanlan put them 3 up before the interval. Further goals by Owen (2), Searle and Davey secured a valuable 3 points.

23rd February
Ferndale & District 9, Pentyrch Rangers 0
A resounding Friday night win for the visitors under the floodlights at Darran Park with Darren White scoring a fabulous four! Further goals from Michael (2), John Davies, Blandon and Fry secured a further 3 points which keeps them comfortably in 3d position in the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League.

11th February
Briton Ferry Llansawel v Barry Town
An emphatic win for the visitors at Cefn Saeson School despite going 1-0 down to a McEwan goal early on. Barry maintained their position at the top of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League thanks to goals by Hutchins (2), Wigley (2), Scanlan, Riches and Cameron. The title challenge is still up for grabs with two matches to play....including a huge encounter against Llanelli in a fortnight!

Llanelli Town 10, Penybont 1
A resounding win for a much-changed Llanelli side at Penrhos School maintained the pressure on the League leaders...writes a roving reporter...The hosts got off to the perfect start when Kev Bartley pounced to give his side an early lead. Penybont equalised with a superb strike from outside the area from Neal Bartlett, but any hopes they had of getting something from the game evaporated within 30 minutes as the Reds took a 5-1 lead, through McClarnan and another 3 from the devastating Bartley. The second half continued in the same vein with another hat-trick for serial scorer Neil ‘Willy’ Williams, and McClarnan completed his hat-trick with two excellent headed goals. A crowd-pleasing final goal came from Barrie Williams with an exquisite cushioned volley over the goal keeper.

An emphatic Friday night win for the visitors at University Fields moves them to the top of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League. Goals from Tranter (2), Ferguson, Hutchins, Hosgood, Cameron and Scanlan secured a valuable 3 points.

28th January 2024
Barry Town 3, Ferndale & District 1
A vital win for the hosts at Bro Morgannwg takes them to within a point of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League leaders, Llanelli Town. Bannon gave the hosts a half time lead and although Griffiths was on target for the visitors, Searle and Cameron secured the 3 points for Barry.

Penybont 1, Briton Ferry Llansawel 2
The visitors (pictured) moved level with today’s opponents after a very competitive game at Bryntirion Park. Miller put the hosts ahead early in the second half but Phillips and McEwan secured the points for the visitors.

26th January 2024
Pentyrch Rangers 1, Llanelli Town 4
The visitors extended their lead at the top of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League with a hard-fought win under the lights at Cardiff University Fields. A much improved Pentyrch team defended defiantly with goalkeeper Chris Williams outstanding, but the ‘Reds’ ran-out deserved winners through a Davey hat-trick and a sublime finish from outside of the box by Rogan Mathews.

14th January 2024
Barry Town 5, Cwmbran Celtics 1
A winning start to 2024 for Barry Town at Jenner Park. They led 2-1 at the interval courtesy of a Tranter brace and a Lloyd goal for Celtic and the score remained that way until the 75th minute. Three quick goals by Ferguson (2) and Hutchins made the score-line more flattering and they keep the pressure on the League leaders, Llanelli Town.

Ferndale & District 1, Penybont 0
A closely fought game at Darran Park could have gone either way but Blandon’s goal at the end of the first half ensured victory for the hosts, which keeps them in contention for the League.

Llanelli Town 2, Briton Ferry Llansawel 0
A superb match, watched by a sizable crowd at Penrhos School ended with the hosts taking the spoils to stay top of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League. Both sides played some great football but Llanelli edged the win with a goal in each half through Williams and Bartley.

A comfortable win for the visitors at Bryntirion Park with a hat-trick by Bartley and further goals by Neil Williams (2), Blackford and Davy. This result takes the Reds to the top of the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League for the start of 2024!

Briton Ferry Llansawel 1, Ferndale & District 3
In the only game of the day in the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League, the visitors claimed a handsome victory in a great, competitive match at Penyrheol Leisure Centre. The hosts took the lead early on through Mark Watts but Jamie Michael and Paul Williams gave them a 2-1 half-time lead. Darren Blandon scored a last minute goal to seal a valuable 3 points for the Rhondda men, which keeps them in the 'mix'.

3rd December
Llanelli Town 1, Ferndale & District 1
In the only game of the day in the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League these two sides battled out a score draw at a wet Penrhos School. A tight match was punctuated by Jamie Michael who put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot on 30 minutes. The hosts fought back but Ferndale were always a threat on the break and they were unlucky to hit the crossbar, before Neil Williams was upended in the area on 80 minutes and Kev Bartley converted the resultant penalty for Llanelli. In a frantic last 10 minutes the Reds also struck bar, but at full time both sides were content with a share of the spoils, which keeps both teams in the mix for honours.

Barry Town 1, Llanelli Town 2
In the big game of the day unbeaten visitors claimed a massive 3 points against the unbeaten hosts in hurricane conditions at Bro Morgannwg. In a frantic, physical and entertaining game, Kev Bartley put Llanelli ahead with a thunderous free-kick against the wind. Neil Williams made it 2 nil early in the second half and although Leigh Vick pulled one back for the hosts to make the last 10 minutes interesting..... Llanelli retained their unbeaten start to the season.

Ferndale & District 8, Cwmbran Celtics 2
A resounding win for the hosts at Darran Park with a Darren Blandon hat-trick the highlight.
Mark Jones (2), Paul Williams (2) and Gavin Gent were also on target. Robert Surtees and Gareth Hinwood scored for Celtics.

Briton Ferry Llansawel 5, Pentyrch Rangers 0
The hosts claimed victory at Penyrheol Leisure centre with John-Paul Kennedy and Michael Walsh putting them 2-0 up at the interval. Three goals in the last 7 minutes made the score-line more convincing with Kennedy completing his hat-trick and Henry Ablade also on target.

5th November
Barry Town 9, Penybont 1
An emphatic win for the hosts at Bro Morgannwg with an Anthony Ferguson hat-trick the highlight. Phil Tranter (2), Darren Scanlan (2), David Davey and Damon Searle completed the scoring and maintained Barry’s unbeaten start. Phil Wells got a consolation for the visitors.

Ferndale & District 10, Pentyrch Rangers 0
A resounding win for the hosts at Darran Park with Justin Thomas grabbing four and Darren White a hat-trick! Further goals from Darren Blandon (2), Lee Hutchings and Stephen Powell completed the rout.

Llanelli Town 13, Cwmbran Cetics 1
Another massive win for the hosts at Penrhos, who also remain unbeaten in the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com League. Habitual scorers Neil ‘Willie’ Williams and Kev Bartley continue with their own public duel with another 4 a-piece! Mark Thomas, Paul Davey, Colin Thomas, Steve Blackford and Nigel Delaney completed the scoring for the Reds. John Lloyd got Celtic’s goal.

In the only fixture played this weekend, the hosts recorded a superb win at Bro Morgannwg. A brace a-piece from Darren Scanlan and Chris Summers, along with further goals by Anthony Ferguson, Richie Ferguson and Phil Tranter earned the visitors three points and maintained their winning start to the season.

A superb away win for Barry Town at Darran Park made it 3 out of 3! The hosts took the lead on 23 minutes through Darren White, but two second half goals by Phil Tranter and Chris Summers earned the visitors the three points.

Briton Ferry Llansawel 3, Penybont 7
John-Paul Kennedy’s hat-trick for the hosts at Penyrheol Leisure centre was outdone by Ricky John’s 4! Further goals by Phil Wells, Paul Day and player-manager, Chris Davies sealed the 3 points.

Llanelli Town 16, Pentyrch Rangers 0
An emphatic home win for the Reds at Penrhos School, against a depleted Rangers side who carried on bravely with 9 men in the second half. The hosts scored through the usual channels The Kev Bartley and Neil ‘Willie’ Williams show rolled into town as they grabbed 7 a-piece!! Steve Evans and Paul Davey completed the rout.

A comfortable win for the visitors at Celtic Park with goals by Paul Richards, Philip Tranter, Gareth Nunn, Richard Ferguson and brother Anthony Ferguson (2).

Penybont 0, Ferndale & District 2
The hosts secured a fine away win at Bryntirion Park with Stephen Powell and Darren Blandon on target for the Rhondda men.

22nd September
Briton Ferry Llansawel 1, Llanelli Town 5
A convincing Friday night win for the Reds who scored through Kevin Bartley (2), Andy Legg (2) and Neil Williams. Jerome Jeremiah was on target for the hosts.

10th September
Barry Town o45s 9 – 0 Pentyrch Rangers
An emphatic win for the hosts at a sweltering Jenner Park. Barry’s scorers were Chris Summers x 3, Darren Scanlan x 3, Richard Jago, Phil Tranter and Leigh Vick (pen)

Cwmbran Celtics o45s 1 - 6 Penybont o45s
A Ricki John hat-trick, a brace by Wells and a penalty by Penybont supremo, Chris Davies, secured a great away victory for the boys from Bridgend. Vella got a consolation for the Celtics

Ferndale & District 0 - 1 Briton Ferry Llansawel
A valuable win for the League newcomers against last year’s cup finalists at Maerdy Park.....Matthews getting the all-important goal...which suggests the visitors could be real title challengers.
