19th May – Cup final
Ferndale & District 1, Llanelli Town 4
Congratulations to Llanelli as they retained the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com CUP with a dominant performance against rivals, Ferndale. In a frantic opening in the blistering Cardiff heat, both sides grappled for supremacy...with full-blooded tackles to the fore. Neil ‘Willie’ Williams, often the go-to striker for the Reds, failed to convert a golden opportunity, when Ferndale keeper, Gaspar, saved bravely. However, his ‘partner in crime,’ Kev Bartley, was more decisive and he calmly slotted his team ahead on the half hour. Davey gave Llanelli a 2 nil lead going into the interval.
Ferndale came back with real vengeance after the break but could not breach a defiant Llanelli rear-guard AND then the Goal of the Game, and possibly season, settled matters, as Neale ‘Niggly’ Richards, sent a 30 yard pile-driver in-off the crossbar! Darren White pulled one back for Ferndale with 15 remaining, but Neil Williams settled matter with his obligatory goal in injury time and his team lifted the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com CUP for the second year in succession.

Ferndale o45s 2023
Ferndale & District 9, Penybont 1
Although Penybont took an early lead through Andy Davies, Ferndale advanced smoothly to the final on 19th May with an emphatic win at Darran Park. James Michael hit 4 along with Blandon (2), Griffiths, Gent and Fackrell....they will be hopeful of a reversal of last year’s cup final result against the same opponents, Llanelli Town!

21st April
Barry Town 1, Llanelli Town 2
Congratulations to Llanelli Town who advanced to the semi-final with an injury time winner at Bro Morgannwg. In a nail-biting match of high-quality the visitors started the stronger and on 15 minutes, Neil Williams finished crisply to give his side a deserved lead. The hosts then dominated for long periods, creating several good situations but failing to trouble Reds stopper, Curtis, and the score remained 0-1 going into the break.
Into the second half and the hosts maintained the pressure and a Rocke own-goal finally drew the sides level. Barry created a fine chance for Tranter but his shot was blocked by Curtis and as the game moved into injury time, Barry lost the ball on the halfway line and when Chris Thomas got clear and picked out Neil Williams, he, inevitably, crashed home to take the ecstatic Reds into the last four and an away tie to local rivals, Briton Ferry Llansawel.
Pentyrch Rangers 0, Penybont 2
A good, close game at Parc Y Dwrlan Fields ended with the visitors progressing. Goals by Wells and Steve Jones earned their side a visit to Ferndale for the o45s Workwear Supermarket.com CUP semi-final on 5th May.
