Canton, Llantwit and Porth into semi-finals!

13th April
Canton 2, Abercwmboi 2 (Canton win 7-6 on pens)
A close game at Canal Park saw the hosts edge the win on penalties. Davies and Mountstephen put the hosts 2-0 up but goals by Stone and Welch for Aber made it all-square after 90 minutes. Canton finally won out 7-6 in a tense penalty shoot-out and advance to the semi-final on 27th April.

Llantwit Fardre 4, Newport Corinthians 1
The League winners advance to the semi-final after cracking cup game against a physical and committed Corries...writes Lee...Fitness told in the end and goals by Harris, Brittain, Llewellyn and Kennedy, including a few break-away goals, were decisive. Rigby was on target for Newport Corries.

Trefelin 1, Porth Harlequins 5
The current o40s Shield holders advanced to the semi-finals with a superb win in an entertaining match at Victoria Road...writes Dale Joseph...Trefelin were the much better side in the first half, but somehow Porth took a 1-0 lead into HT through Gareth Williams.
The second half was much more competitive, but Porth were clinical on the counter and scored through Haggett (2), Jamie Williams and Owen. Jeffries was on target for the hosts.

Abercwmboi 4, Penlan 2
The hosts won a good game between two very competitive teams at The Ynys ....writes David Hinksman....Goals by Welch (2), Lloyd and Durston saw them safely into the quarter final. Penlan scored through Shannon and Maunder.

Cardiff Draconians 2, Newport Corinthians 2
(Corries win 2-4 on penalties)
In a great game between two competitive sides, the visitors advanced after a penalty shoot-out at Lydstep Park...writes Kennedy...In normal time, Gardner and Ashton were on target for the Dracs with Jeffries and Myles scored for Corries.

Cwmbran Celtic 0, Trefelin 3
The visitors advanced with a comfortable win in a good game at Pontrhydyrun Fields...writes Kieran.... The better team advanced to the next round through a Williams brace and a further goal from McLachlan.

Dinas Powys 1, Porth Harlequins 6
The current SHIELD holders advanced after a convincing win at St Cyres School..writes Dave Swartz... Porth were much the better side today and deserved the win with goals from Tyler (2), Dowler, Williams, Haggett and Owen on target. Alexis scored a consolation for Dinas.

Ely Sports 2, Rockspur Fords 8
A convincing win by the visitors at Trelai Park...writes Marc Williams... Although the score-line didn’t reflect the game, Rockspurs were the better team and moved into the Quarter final with goals from Sillitoe (4), Johnson, Lorey, Cleverly and Lewis. Hooper and Cross were Ely’s scorers.

Pontyclun 2, Llantwit Fardre 3
The League winners advanced after a great cup tie at Ivor Park...writes Dai Lewis...The hosts ‘low block’ tactics worked and the pitch was a leveller, and Ackland gave Clun took the lead against the run of play after 10 minutes. The o40s Workwear Supermarket.com League winners, Llantwit Fardre, are a quality side, and they equalised before half time through Llewellyn. In second half a Lloyd brace put the visitors into a 3-1 lead and although Rogers made it 2-3 with a few minutes remaining, Llantiwt were good for their win.

Sifil 4, Canton Liberal Club 5
The visitors advance after a closely fought ‘goal-fest’ at Y Sifil Sports Ground. A Mountstephen hat-trick plus goals from Davies and Babareza secured the win. Palmer (2), Lawrence and Lilygreen scored for the hosts.

30th March
Penlan 5, Pontymister 0
The hosts won a cracking game at Mynydd Newydd ....writes Toddy....Goals by Shannon (3), Mansell and Maunder ensured they moved into Round 2 to face Abercwmboi.

Trefelin 5, Penarth Wanderers 3
The hosts advance after a good game at Victoria Road...writes Acker Robinson...The visitors scored through Robinson, Maksimovic and Brandt but a fine hat-trick by Williams and goals by Lobo and Cook moved Trefelin into Round 2 where they will face Cwmbran Celtic.

23rd March
Abercwmboi 3, Swansea 2
The hosts advance after a very close game at the Ynys...writes Dave Hinksman... Welch (2) and Davies scored for Abercwmboi, Johnson and Gill replied for a much-improved Swansea side.

Cwmbran Celtic 2, Llanelli Town 2nds 2
(Cwmbran win 4-3 on pens)
The hosts advanced after a penalty shoot-out at Celtic Park...writes Neil Bryant.... Cwmbran started strongly putting Llanelli under pressure and made the pressure count, Rob Surtees following up a great save by Gary Evans to put the hosts ahead. Llanelli came more into the game and managed to equalise. Paul Davey levelled with a tap in from good work and cross from Barry Williams. Llanelli continued to have more of the play in the second half. Simon Braule shot from the edge of the box was saved by the keeper, but Paul Davey was first to the rebound to tap home. Llanelli had chances to kill the game off but weren't able to finish. Cwmbran pushed for an equaliser in the last ten minutes and, with seconds left, managed to force an error and Gareth Williams took the game to penalties. Cwmbran held their nerve better and won 4-3 on penalties. Good luck to them for the rest of the cup.

Pentyrch Rangers 0, Newport Corinithians 3
The visitors advanced after Myles (2) and Jeffries scored at Parc Y Dwrlyn Fields.

Pontyclun 3, Rogerstone 2
Pontyclun advanced after a well-contested at Ivor Park...writes Dai Lewis...A game between 2 evenly matched teams could have gone either way but the hosts came out on top with goals by Ackland, Jones and Rogers. The visitors scored through a Roberts OG and Williams but a last minute miss by the striker was crucial....and the pitch helped Clun out with that one!

Porth Harlequins 4, Pencoed 1
The hosts advanced after a good competitive game at Darran Park...writes Dale Joseph.... Haggett (2) Tyler and Williams were on target, with Howard replying for the visitors.

Rockspur Fords 3, Cwmcarn Athletic 1
The hosts advance with Cwmcarn unable to field a side.

Aber Valley 2, Cardiff Draconians 2
(Dracs win 2-4 on penalties)
The visitors advanced after a penalty shoot-out at Abertridwr Park...writes Higgs.... The Dracs should’ve put fixture to bed by half time but didn’t take all their chances and they only led 2-0 at half-time through Fowler and Ashton. Aber fought back in the second half with Hunt and Wood making it 2-2 to force Pens...which Dracs edged.

Ynyscynon 2, Canton Liberal Club 3
The visitors advance with a win at Ynyscynon Park with goals by Noor, Camileri and Davies. Hall and Jones replied for the hosts.

Llantwit Fardre 3, Abercarn 0
The hosts advance with East League winners Abercarn unable to field a side.

Thornhill 5, Cascade 4
Thornhill edged a goal-fest at Llanishen School with goals by Stacey (3), Baggett (2) and Ford. Greenway (2), Short and Norris scored for the visitors.

Dinas Powys 3, Upper Rhnodda 1
The hosts won a really-close, well-fought game at St Cyres School....writes Dave Swartz... Cayford scored a brace for Dinas with Gareth Jones making it 2-1 early in the second half. Sadler put Dinas 3-1 up at a vital time and they advance to the next round.
