Important win for Llanelli!

19th January
Barry Town 1, Ponthir 3
In an excellent game of two halves at Bro Morgannwg, the visitors secured a valuable win...writes Alun Williams... Barry dominated the first half and went ahead through Snoory but, they were unlucky to find Ponthir keeper, Lancaster, in sparkling form, and he made several superb saves to keep his side in the game before his teammate, Sommers, equalised, to give them an unlikely 1-1 score-line at half-time. The game swung 180 degrees in the second half, Ponthir dominating and running out winners with goals by Cave and a second from Sommers.

Cardiff Corinthians 7, Pentwynmawr 1
A comfortable win for the hosts at Cardiff University Fields, saw a hat-trick a-piece for Baah and Pengilley with Allen completing the rout. Bird scored a consolation for the visitors.

Ferndale & District 1, Llanelli Town 8
An emphatic win for Llanelli at Darran Park with both Lee Trundle and Leon Britton available...writes Paul Davey...The visitors started well playing some lovely football and allowing Trundle to do what he does best - take on defenders and create space for other players and he laid on the first goal for talisman Bartley in the 8th minute and they continued to dominate with one touch precision passes. A Trundle shot was parried by Ferndale keeper, Howe, but Thomas tapped the rebound into the goal. Trundle continued to terrorise the Ferndale defence, and provided two more assists for Brown and Bartley. The hosts came into the game at the end of first half and earned a penalty, which Curtis saved superbly and they still led 4-0 at the interval.
Into the second half and the hosts started brightly, but a mistake was seized upon by Trundle, who once again put Bartley in to score. Ferndale got another penalty which Mason duly converted, but Llanelli started to dominate once more which encouraged Trundle to show a few tricks and grab a brace, before Brown completed his hat trick for a convincing 3 points for the Reds.

Penydarren BG Club 4, Briton Ferry 2
An important win for the hosts at The Bont sees them leapfrog their opponents into second place in the League table....writes Steve Lane....The visitors took the lead twice with lovely goals from Simpson and Wheel, with Duncan making it 1-2 going into the interval. The lack of subs eventually told and the hosts managed to get over the line with goals by Williams (2), and Daniels.

5th January 2025
Barry Town 3, Cardiff Corinthians 2
The hosts claimed the 3 points at Jenner Park with goals by Yarr and Chick (2). Corries scored two late goals through Crock and Williams.

Briton Ferry 2, Llanelli 4
The visitors claimed a deserved victory at Penyrheol Leisure Centre...writes Steve Davies....A good game played in horrendous wind and rain saw Llanelli’s Brown score a hat-trick, with Bartley also on the scoresheet. Walsh and Warren scored late on for the hosts.

22nd December
Ferndale & District 4, Barry Town 1
A convincing win for the hosts at Darran Park. Mason (2), Rees and Gent were on target for the hosts. Chick scored a consolation for the visitors.

8th December
Barry Town 2, Briton Ferry Llansawel 2
With the remnants of Storm Darragh still having an impact on conditions, the hosts entertained Briton Ferry Llansawel in unfamiliar surroundings at the University Fields, Llanrumney at a later than usual time of 4pm....writes Barry Town manager, James Bagnall...

Despite the lack of home comforts, Barry started brightly, and playing with the wind struck first after an in-swinging corner from Lyndsey caused confusion in the box and Baker calmly converted in the subsequent goalmouth scramble. They were unfortunate not to extend their lead as a number of promising attacks failed to come to fruition. Indeed, it was the opponents who drew the game level against the run of play, when a penalty was converted by Parry. This gave the visitors confidence and after a mix up in the Barry midfield, they broke down the right, and a hopeful ball into the box was converted by Morgan after some decent footwork. However, the lead lasted barely 10 minutes as a fantastic 25-yard strike by Lindsey left the keeper stranded to draw Barry level. Half time was called after floodlight failure saw one half of the pitch plunged into darkness with just 40 minutes on the clock.

When the light came back, the second half saw no goals but it wasn’t for lack of effort on both sides, with Wadsworth making some crucial saves in the Barry nets, and Noor and Baker were a constant threat on the ‘Ferry’ defence. All in all, honours even, but Barry will be left rueing what might have been and although ‘Ferry’ missed an opportunity to move close to League leaders, a share of the spoils still keeps their hopes alive.

24th November
Cardiff Corinthians 1, Llanelli Town1
The only 'Premier' League match of the day ended all-square at the University Fields...writes Llanelli manager, Alun Williams... The visitors started very brightly and could have gone 2 nil up before the hosts grew into the game, playing some flowing football to the front 3 - who were a big threat and they duly took the lead minutes befotre the interval, Crock gratefully converting a penalty to take his side 1-0 up going into the interval. In the second half the visitors were, again, quick out the blocks and they scored an equaliser from a great Bartley free kick. The Reds tails were up but they failed to convert their chances and the Corries themselves could have won the game but for an unbelievable save from keeper, Curtis, and in the end a point was a fair result and Llanelli are still clear at the top of the table.

Briton Ferry Llansawel 2, Cardiff Corinthians 1
A great game between two battling teams ended with the hosts just coming out on top...writes Steve Davies....Harding scored for the hosts and Gardner equalised but Clement got the all-important winner in a game that could have gone either way with tremendous last ditch defending and both keepers, Hulland (Ferry) and Davies (Corries) making great saves.

Llanelli Town 2, Ponthir 1
The hosts maintained their position at the top of the o40s (PREMIER) Workwear Supermarket.com League with a fine home win...writes Alun Williams...In a great game of football between two good sides, Llanelli had the better of the first half, keeping the ball well, and forcing Ponthir keeper, Poyner, into action and rattling the cross-bar through a great Bartley free kick. They would not be denied and took the lead on the stroke of half time when Brown headed home a fine Harries cross. Ponthir equalised just after the start of the second half with a great finish by Dunn. Brown scored his second to put Llanelli back in front and although the visitors pushed for parity the hosts held on for priceless win.

27th October

Barry Town 1, Llanelli Town 1
The spoils were shared despite a dominating performance by the visitors.....writes Neil Bryant. The game was still poised at 0-0 on the hour mark, but Llanelli took the lead with a great goal by Sam Brown after some lovely interplay. A combination of profligacy and a sparkling display by home keeper, Wadsworth, kept the scores at 0-1, until a free kick by the hosts found Cotterill in space and he finished with aplomb. A great save late-on by Llanelli stopper, Curtis, kept the final score 1-1.
