Abercarn top going into 2025!

22nd December
Thornhill 8, Cwmbran Celtic 1
A tough afternoon for the ‘depleted’ visitors in this ‘flipped’ fixture at Llanishen High School...writes Keiran Masterson...All credit to Celtic who still turned up with only 8 men available and picking at random to go in goals! Thornhill played well and took full advantage of their extra men and scored through Jones (3), Cole (2), Newbury, Gareth and Kirkpatrick. Parfitt scored a consolation for Cwmbran.

Abercarn 5, Ely Sports 0
A handsome win for the o40s (East) Workwear Supermarket.com League leaders at Abertillery Sports Centre with goals from Cegielski (2), Davies, Motsi and Lawrence.

Sifil 2, Canton Libs 3
An entertaining game at Newport Velodrome saw the visitors take a two-goal lead through Mountstephen and Stewart. Johnson made it all-square with a brace but Canton would not be denied and Murphy sealed the win late on.

Cwmcarn Athletic 8, Rogestone 1
An entertaining game at Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre finally went the way of high-flying hosts...writes Steve Pontin....Purnell put the visitors ahead early on but a goal by Hill and an OG by Cox gave the hosts a narrow 2-1 half-time lead. Cwmcarn eased away in the 2nd half with some great football and goals from Hill (his 2nd), McEwan, Aldridge, Perry and Pontin and they sit in second place going into Christmas.

9th December 2024
Ely Sports 4, Aber Valley 4
An entertaining game with a draw probably the right result at Fitzalan School...writes Marc Williams... The visitors took a 2-goal lead into half-time through Rees and Wood. A speedy hat-trick by Jago put the hosts ahead until Smith equalised with 15 remaining. Williams though he had won it for Ely but a last-gasp goal by Thornton ensured a share of the spoils.

*The game was stopped half way through second half when Ely centre half, Paul Lodo dislocated his elbow...we wish him a speedy recovery!

Penarth Wanderers 2, Cwmcarn Athletic 5,
Cwmcarn secured the 3 points at Leckwith Campus...writes Steve Pontin.... The visitors raced in to a 3-0 lead through McEwan (2) and Potter but Penarth kept playing and Richards nicked one back before half time. Penarth were then the better side for 30 mins in second half and pulled another back through Self. Cwmcarn then eased away late on, when McEwan completed his hat trick and Pontin got another with last kick of game and his team continue to put pressure on the League leaders.

Thornhill 0, Pontymister 2
A good win for the visitors at Llanishen High School with Donald and Thomas securing the points.

Dinas Powys 4, Cardiff Draconians 4
A frantic game with strong winds and low sun at St Cyres making it tricky to play in...writes Andrew Higgs....Dinas kept taking a lead and Dracs kept coming back...with the final equaliser coming in the dying seconds! The match was well-reffed and a draw was a fair result in the end! Goals for Dinas by Nash-Jones, Rodd, Blake and Messer. Dracs replied through Hartrey (2), Resfon and Strange.

24th November

Ely Sports 1, Cascade 4
A win for the visitors in a good game in tough conditions at Cardiff West High School...writes Marc Williams... Harrington put the hosts ahead before Martin equalised to make it 1-1 at the break. Three quick goals in the second half by Martin, Hinder and Norris took the game away from the hosts and kept Cascade on ‘top of the table’.

Penarth Wanderers 1, Cardiff Draconians 2
A good win for the visitors in a superb match at Leckwith Stadium...writes Alan ‘Acker’ Robinson...Penarth thought they had ‘turned the corner’ against the Dracs but they were sunk by a Fowler brace in a hard-fought win. The hosts probably deserved more than a late Nathan Self consolation.

Thornhill 2, Cwmcarn Athletic 2
A good point for the visitors after coming back from 2 down at Llanishen School...writes Steve Pontin... The hosts took a 2 goal lead through Richard Jones and Stacey....but an OG gave Cwmcarn hope and they maintained their title challenge with a fine comeback and a late Llewellyn equaliser.

Hutchinson scored a second for the visitors late-on.

Cardiff Draconians 1, Thornhill 1
All-square in a good, competitive game at Cardiff University Fields...writes Nick Driscoll... Richard Jones put the visitors ahead, but Ashton equalised with 20 minutes to go.
