Congratulations to Hawarden Rangers Vets who have, once again, been crowned the North East Wales Veterans’ League champions for the third season running.... remaining unbeaten in those 3 years! The Deeside club are also the North Wales League Cup holders and defend their crown in the final in May.
There are currently two o35s veterans’ leagues in the north Wales area and its popularity is growing all the time. Hawarden play in the NE Wales Veterans’ Premier League alongside other notable clubs including Connah’s Quay Nomads and Ruthin Town. Llay Welfare FC currently lead the Veterans’ Championship Division.
The Wales Veterans' Football Association, currently includes clubs from across south and west Wales...and is continually expanding, with 1500 players now registered. Its links with veterans’ clubs in mid and north Wales is also improving and there has been considerable success with the older age-groups, with our evolving relationship with the Wales Walking Football Federation crucial....and squads representing ‘Wales’ in the forthcoming o70s/o75s World cup in Cardiff this August can rightly claim ‘national’ status.
The WVFA is also making efforts to develop links with the ‘younger’ veterans’ clubs, and is currently in 'advanced' talks to host a North v South play-off between Hawarden and the winner of the o40s WorkwearSupermarket.com East v West play-off, which is currently being scheduled.
