It is with heavy hearts that Wales Veterans’ Football sadly announce the passing of one its favourite ‘sons’, Neil Davies. ‘Davo’, one of the Organisation's finest players for the last decade, passed away quietly on 15th November 2021, after losing his brave battle with cancer.

Neil, originally from Mountain Ash, graced the playing fields of several premier south Wales football clubs before progressing to veterans’ football, where he continued to display his great footballing talent and leadership skills for Penydarren and the Wales Veterans Representative sides....and he achieved a great deal of success with both.

For the last few years Neil resided in Barry with his wife Helen and together they bravely fought this terrible illness. He rose to the challenge by raising awareness of the disease; and as recently as August Neil, with the help of his many friends across the veterans’ football community, raised over £3000 for Macmillan Cancer. Chris Dickson of the Macmillan Fundraising Group, described Neil as “an amazing and inspirational gentleman”...and anyone who knew him would wholeheartedly agree.

Everyone involved in Wales Veterans’ Football will miss him both as a fine player and an even finer human being and we send our deepest sympathies to his family, especially his wife, Helen and daughters, Jessica and Katie.
