Mark Davies - Rest in Peace

By Alun Huish

Mark Davies 08/09/1972 - 15/05/2022

It is with great sadness we report the tragic loss of Llanelli’s Mark Davies, one of the most prominent members of the Wales Veterans’ Footballing community, who suffered a fatal heart attack during the o45s Cup Final on Sunday 15th May 2022.

Former Swansea City player Mark was key to the success of Llanelli Veterans both on and off the pitch. He was a great player and a lovely man and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. The heartfelt condolences of everyone at Wales Veterans’ Football go out to his family and friends - our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.

In honour of Mark, Llanelli Veterans will place a wreath in the centre circle prior to the o60s Cup Final at Leckwith this Sunday. A minute’s silence will be observed and black armbands will be worn by players in all three games. As a further mark of respect, a memorial match will take place as a curtain-raiser to the 2022/23 season.

We would like to thank the qualified first aiders and staff at Leckwith’s House of Sport who acted swiftly and bravely until the arrival of the Emergency services, who were on the scene in minutes. The welfare of our players is paramount and we have trained professionals in place who are available to support any individuals who may have been adversely affected by this incident.
