Great win for Wales o55s over England!

By Alun Huish

Wales o55s 2, England o55s 1 Ocean Park Arena. Saturday 1st February @ 4pm KO

The Wales Veterans' Football Association welcomed an England squad to Cardiff to face a Wales o55s squad and the hosts secured a great win....writes Wales manager, John Jones...

The lads put in a tremendous shift full of hard work, determination, organisation and skill and beside a sloppy 20 mins in the 1st half when England took the lead after a sloppy back pass, the hosts dominated.

A great back post header from Darren Thompson drew us level in first half and a great run in second half by Nicky Francis saw him cut through the English defence to put us 2.1 up! Wales controlled the remainder to secure a deserved win.

John enthused "this was great team performance with some outstanding individual performances from captain, Andrew York, Steven Owen, Wayne Mathews and MoM Nicky Francis."
