Penybont through to final!!

Cwmbran Celtic 2, Penybont 5
Penybont advanced to the o50s WorkwearSupermarket.com CUP final after a good win at the Avondale Arena...writes Chris Davies....Penybont started quickly with a goal after 2 minutes from Steve Powell. Cwmbran battled throughout the first half and made life difficult for Penybont until a 30 yard effort from Chris Davies (goal of the game) doubled the lead on 30 minutes to put some daylight between the teams. Powell added a penalty towards the end of the first half to give Penybont a 3-0 lead at the break. 2 goals from Andrew Davies put Penybont in control before Cwmbran struck back with a good strike from Oakley and a penalty from Andrews, which saw Penybont reduced to 10 men. No further goals in the game despite Cwmbran pressure saw Penybont through to the final.

26th January
The Continental 1, Llanelli Town 5
The visitors came away with a 5-1 win after a great battle today at Cardiff University Fields ...writes Simon Rogers....The reds went into the lead early on with a fine strike from Neil Williams and the game remained 1-0 for a long period with the visitors indebted to goal keeper Neil Bryant who kept out Chris Summers when one on one first half with a fantastic stop. Neil Williams doubled the lead when Simon Rogers put the ball over the top for him to run onto early second half. With Continental pushing forward to get back into the game, Llanelli added further goals from Simon Rocke (2) and Kevin Thomas to send Llanelli into the next round. Continental managed a late consolidation through Kavanagh but it was all too late for any comeback. Whilst the score-line looks comfortable, the game was very much an even affair with Llanelli taking their chances when they came and they move into the semi-final where they will face

24th January
Merthyr Tydfil 1, Swansea 0
A hard-fought cup match between two committed sides went the hosts way at Brynmawr School...writes Ricky John...Merthyr dominated possession for the most part but Swansea were resolute in defence and looked dangerous on the counter. Merthyr broke the deadlock early in the second half through a Shane Davies penalty and this narrow win sees them progress to the semi-final where they will face Llanelli Town.

12th January
Cwmbran Celtic 2, Nelson Cavaliers 1
Celtic advance to the next round of the o50s WorkwearSupermarket.com CUP with a narrow win at Celtic Park. Bielski and Gingell were on target for the hosts, Headon scored for Cavaliers.

2nd January 2025
Penybont 2, Pontyclun 1
A close-fought win for the hosts at the SDM stadium...writes Chris Davies...The visitors opened the scoring with a Ryan Flood cross/shot which was spilled by the Penybont goalkeeper. A Steve Powell rocket into the top bins levelled things with Penybont dominating the 2nd half but failing to score until a goalmouth scramble in the 75th minute saw Phil Wells score a deflected goal to seal the win and move the hosts into the next round of the O50s WorkwearSupermarket.com CUP
