England 55s 1, Wales o55s 1 Kirby Muxloe

England 55s 1, Wales o55s 1
Wales travelled to Kirby-Muxloe in Leicestershire determined to
exact revenge for the humiliation last time out...and securing a draw against a very strong England outfit on their own patch was satisfying...

Wales controlled the opening period with (MoM)Barry Town's Wayne Matthews prominent and when Newport's Mark Walker slotted home neatly on 21 minutes, he put the visitors deservedly ahead. If only they were more clinical with 3 further decent chances, it could have been all but over. Sadly for Wales this profligacy cost them and England equalised on 29 minutes with a direct free kick from former Southend player Steve Tillson.

The 2nd half was an even affair but Wales again missed 2 clear cut chances and with the game finishing 1-1 it was Wales who felt it was a game they should have won. Manager, Shane Davies enthused "I was pleased with the performance and, with a few players still to come in, we have the makings of a decent squad who could compete well in the forthcoming o55s Home Nations in Ireland in September."

16th November 2021
Wales took a strong England o55s squad at Ocean Park Arena, Cardiff on 20th November and were soundly beaten.

Wales had 6 new players on board and manager, Shane Davies was intent on giving the whole squad an opportunity to 'nail down a place' going forward.

Following a fine tribute to Neil 'Davo' Davies before kick-off the match didn't spark into life in the first 40 minutes although Wales' brightest player Mark Walker was always a threat, but the scores were level at 1-1 going into the break, the hosts equalising through a Mark Jones penalty. In the second half England upped the tempo and, even with 3 key players missing, scored 4 without reply to run out comfortable 1-5 winners. Manager Shane Davies commenting on the defeat said "I've got no complaints, we were outplayed today."
